Job Description
Our client is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 6-8 engineers building features trusted by some of the largest organisations in the world. This is a people-first leadership role that still values technical credibility — you'll own delivery, quality and the growth of your team, while staying close enough to the work to review designs and unblock effectively. You'll join a scaled security business that combines stability with continued high growth.
- Lead, coach, hire and grow a team of 6-8 engineers
- Own delivery, quality, planning and technical direction for your team
- Run effective one-to-ones, feedback and performance/career development
- Stay hands-on enough to review designs, unblock the team and understand trade-offs
- Partner with product and design on roadmap, prioritisation and scope
- Foster a healthy, inclusive, high-performing team culture
- Own team-level operational health — reliability, on-call and incident follow-up
- Manage stakeholders and communicate clearly across the organisation
- Continuously improve process, ways of working and engineering standards
- Contribute to hiring and to the broader engineering leadership group
The Successful Applicant
We're looking for an engineering leader who genuinely enjoys growing people and shipping great work, with the technical depth to earn their team's trust.
- 6+ years in engineering, including 2+ years of people management
- A strong technical foundation and the ability to reason about system design
- Demonstrated success shipping in a security, enterprise or high-reliability context
- A proven ability to hire, grow and retain strong engineers
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience owning delivery for a team and improving how it works
- Comfortable balancing hands-on involvement with delegation
- A collaborative, low-ego and outcome-focused leadership style
